Copper slag is what remains from the copper refining process; it can be cut and polished like a gemstone. These pieces are from Michigan, as is the gentleman that cut them.
Stone measures: 1/5" x 3/8" at widest point. Small white freshwater pearls dangle from the bottom.

Garnet and Silica Earrings

Gorgeous, wine-red rose-cut garnets with super-shiny polished silica drops make these a stunning pair of dangle earrings. The silica drops can be removed from the garnet tops, allowing the garnets to be worn separately, like Victorian era day-night earrings! The total length measures 2" including the ear wire. The garnet and ear wire alone are 3/4".
